Bamboobies Review and Giveaway!

One of my biggest challenges in breastfeeding is the fact that I leak. All. The. Time. Anytime Arlo goes more than three hours between feedings (not often), overnight, and during my let down, I leak. If he’s eating from the right breast, you can bet that my left will leak right through my shirt. It’s embarrassing and messy, and it means lots and lots of laundry to be done at the end of the day. I’ve gone through many breast pads since I started nursing. With Sully, I didn’t even know about re-useable nursing pads. I stuck with disposables. They were itchy, would leak, and trapped in moisture and air. I ended up with cracked, bleeding nipples, and I spent over $10 a week replacing boxes of nursing pads. I get that doesn’t sound like much. But it’s almost $300 in the long run. That’s A TON of money to throw into the trash.

After Arlo, I knew I had to try something different. So, I searched high and low for the best nursing pads that could be washed and re-used. I wanted something reliable, reasonably priced, and comfortable. I hate feeling wet, so I wanted something that would keep me dry even after a particularly heavy let down. In those first days of nursing, my let down was extreme, so I needed something heavy duty…especially at night. But I also wanted a nursing pad that I could wear under my thin t-shirts without announcing to the world that I was wearing pads in my bra. I needed something absorbant and thin.

Bamboobies came to my rescue.

Bamboobies sent me some of their “Regular” nursing pads for daytime and some of their “Overnight” pads for heavier days or late nights.

The Regular pads are heart-shaped. I thought it was strange at first, but I quickly realized the heart-shape design is discrete and molds to the breast easily. I’m am fan of the heart. The top layer is an incredibly soft blend of Organic cotton and bamboo. The middle layer is hemp core that is meant to absorb milk and draw it away from the breast. The back layer is PUL to keep milk from leaking through your shirts. The pads come in hot pink, light pink, and black PUL. The softness is incredibly comforting when you’re experiencing sore nipples. Nothing like the itchy, harsh feeling of a disposable. These aren’t going to with hold BIG let downs, but they are perfect for daily wear. Now that my milk supply has regulated, one pair gets me through the entire day.

The Overnight pads are backed on both sides with Organic Bamboo Fleece (SO SOFT) and have a hemp core. These are the work horses of breast pads. They will get you through anything. I wear one pair of these all night, and I’ve only had a couple leaks when I had really heavy let down. And seriously, my leaking is not of the norm.

After trying Bamboobies, I would not go back to disposables. They are incredibly soft, keep you feeling dry, are discrete, and best of all, they actually work.

Bamboobies has generously offered a $20.00 credit to one of my readers! This credit is enough to buy a set of Day pads or Night pads or to put towards a larger set that includes both!

I’d love to get the heavy ones! I, too, have a super duper strong let down. I nearly choked my kid each time I let down if he was latched on! ha! so, the heavy ones.

I would probably try the 4 pack, but of the other things that they carry that I have actually tried, the Aden & Anais swaddling blankets are my favorite. And I didn’t realize the Moby wrap had fun patterns now until I went to this page.

About to be a new mom so I have no idea what would be my favorite. BUT these look like such a better alternative to the disposable one. I was given a pack and all I could think of was those do not look comfy! I think I would go for the variety pack just so I could have a few days in between washing! Look like a very good investment!

I would love to try the regulars. I have cloth pads that don’t leak, but they are way too obvious in my opinion. The butterfly nursing cover also looks much more practical than the hooter hider variety!
