The Case of the Missing Monkey Man, or why I will never win the Parent of the Year Award.

Monkey Man is gone.
Sully’s constant companion, best friend, and side kick has been misplaced. Sully has had him since birth. We rotated out monkeys over the first year as some became lost and some became destroyed by use, but since Sully turned one, he’s had the same Monkey Man. The tag was frayed perfectly. It smelled wonderfully musty no matter how many times I washed it. We have spares, but Sully can tell them apart easily despite our attempts to fray tags and dirty up the replicas. He knew his Monkey Man like the back of his hand.
I’ve check everywhere. Every drawer, the fridge, oven, microwave, trash, under couch cushions, in rooms we haven’t even been, the car. And he’s surely lost forever.
I hear Sully upstairs right now, during what should be naptime, cursing at his replacement monkey in a way that only toddlers can do. He keeps repeating, “Oh, bad monkey! Bad monkey tag! Wrong monkey!” Bless him. Here’s hoping he will adopt the replacement monkey soon and life can go on as normal. Until then, I’ll feel guilty and horrible for somehow losing Sully’s buddy.

Noah is attached to one of his stuffed dogs from build-a-bear that my in-laws got him when he was 6 months old (he’s going to be 5 in a few weeks). Lord help me if that thing ever goes missing.

Sullivan is pretty adaptable. I believe he will come to accept the Monkey Man replacements…I hope…Give him hugs and kisses from Gigi and Pops!

Start with a quick prayer to St. Anthony. That guy is a genius at finding lost things!
I lost my Bear for two whole weeks once. After turning the house upside-down and experiencing every stage of grief, my dad found Bear deep
In the couch. He was severely squashed, but was smiling up at my dad, who was saying silent prayers of thanks to St. Anthony!

Oh…take Caitlin’s advice and recite the following prayer (while looking for Monkey Man):
Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around.
There is something that is lost that cannot be found.

Sally- we left “Lammie” the cow at Charlotte-Douglas one night after trying to get the family out on a flight to Colorado- and being bumped 3 times. We were exhausted- and Zac never forgave us. He had to have been in 1st or 2nd grade! We had to go thru the airport lost and found every time we went there for 2 years. We never found a cow to replace him. Don’t tell Zac I told you!

Oh, another place that I found my daughter’s lamb was in the seat section of a ride-on car. Would NEVER think to think in there, because A. the seat lifts up and down (but a mother forgets that important fact in times of panic) and B. because finding it in the place that it it actually is is too EASY. Kids like to see us sweat and cry and run around like chickens. Oh, and fight their most needed nap EVER.
Hope you find him soon!!!!

Brendon dropped his bear of on our bed once or twice before and it’s been missing for a week at the most. He was so sad looking for it. “Where Bear?!” with the whole hands up in the air too! I’d ask him where he put it, and he’d reply “hiding!” He’d make a big show of looking for it “in here? NOOO. In here? noo!” LOL we finally found in the laundry pile
