So easy a child could use it: Oreck Magnesium Vacuum Review and Giveaway!

****GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED****

I am beyond excited to team up with the Oreck vacuum cleaner company to bring to you a review and giveaway. This is my favorite giveaway in the history of ever.

IntroducingThe Oreck Magnesium Vacuum and Ultimate Hand Held Vac!

Taylor and I have never owned a nice vacuum. It was always one of those “someday” items that we figured we would invest in eventually. Our mentality led us to becoming owners of some rather crappy vacuums, and I was not at all pleased with the results we were getting while cleaning our new house. Our old vacuum had the shortest cord to work with, would spit back crumbs and dust, was incredibly heavy to lug around, and was so loud that our neighbors would have had a legitmate reason to file a complaint everytime we used it.

When our new Oreck arrived, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Having never used a nice vacuum, I kind of wondered what all the hype was about and how a vacuum could be that different from the rest.

It is.

I was wrong. So, so wrong. It’s unassuming and simple enough at first glance. Nothing scary or seemingly complicated. I like uncomplicated relationships. Just ask my husband.

The Oreck and I are now best friends, and I would pack him up and take him on family vacations if possible. THAT’S how awesome this a vacuum is. First of all the cord is incredibly long (think 30ft), which means I don’t have to plug and unplug and plug and unplug five hundred times just to vacuum a couple of rooms.

With an easy-grip handle and these interesting little track runners that moves it along, it’s so easy to use it has even become one of Sully’s favorite toys…ahem, tools. Seriously, this child is obsessed with vacuums. When we go to Lowes, the only things he wants to see are the “vacooom qweanas.” How could I deprive him of his favorite joy?

One of my absolute favorite parts of this vacuum is how light weight it is. I don’t even mind pulling it out of the closet to get to vacuuming because I don’t have to wrestle it like an alligator like I used to have to do with our old one. Instead, I can grab it one-handed, carry it through the house, and hand it off to the willing toddler without breaking a sweat. Easy-peasy.

It works on all floor types. It glides easily over hardwood and right onto our rugs with no snagging. I’ve used it on our bathroom tiles as well. It leaves no marks, no damage, and cleans all surfaces beautifully. There are no annoying adjustments to change as you change floor textures. Just a simple “high” or “low” setting that you can change with the push of a button. Even on our hardwood floors and tile, we have no problems with the crumb kick-back that drives me crazy. It sucks up even the smallest bits of Goldfish crackers with no problem. Score.

Because it’s so thin and easy to move, it fits under almost all furniture. There isn’t a piece of furniture in our entire house that I have to move in order to vacuum under it with the Magnesium. Instead, it just slides right in there and gets the job done.

Moral of the story? It’s more than just a vacuum. It’s an investment that you’ll keep for years and years to come, that you will use virtually every day (if you’re OCD like me), and that you won’t mind pulling out to get cleaning. I will never waste money on a vacuum that I’ll just have to replace in no time. The Oreck Magnesium is, hands-down, one of the best homeowner tools I’ve ever used.

OH! And before you get carried away and forget, there is also a pretty sweet Ultimate Hand Held Vac up for grabs along with the Magnesium. Oreck’s newest Hand Held Vac weighs in at a mere 5lbs, and it is PERFECT for those little jobs (like a quick vacuum of hair off the bathroom floor…not that I would know anything about that).

Sully calls it the “Robot vacooooom.” Who knows. I guess because it does so many jobs and has so many attachments? There is, literally, an attachment for every job. This is a DIY-er’s dream machine because it’s can suck up dust from baseboards or cabinet installation in no time with no fuss. We use it at least once a day.

Now, the best part? One of you is going to win a brand new Oreck Magnesium Upright Vacuum and an Ultimate Hand Held Vac!!!

That’s over a $600 value! Can you feel my excitement?!

I learned it has a high or a low setting, which would be awesome. I have an old clunky Oreck (I love it, but it’s the most basic one they’ve got) and it has trouble adjusting when I go from vacuuming our laminate floor to carpeting. Thanks for the chance to win!

Love that it works on both hard surface floors and carpets and can lie flat to go under furniture. Yearly tuneups to keeping it working well is Awesome!

I watched a whole infomercial on this vacuum! But visiting the website I learned that it’s gentle enough for Persian rugs. :). Lightweight and still powerful…awesome!
